Quite a few PMs dislike PMing for advertising servers. This article will describe expectations that you should should include in your server to have a higher chance of finding more PMs, PM definitions and places to find PMs.

Basic PM Terms:

1. Partnership — A partnership is basically where you post another server’s ad in a channel in your server dedicated for partnerships and they do the same.

2. Blacklist — When a server/ person goes rogue, they are blacklisted, meaning they wouldn’t be allowed to partner with the server they are blacklisted in and the person gets banned.

3. Ad —An ad, short form of “advertisement” is often called a desc (description) referred to a detailed or short explanation of what the server is about. Making it attractive to attract more members to your server.

4. Invite — An invite is a link to a server. Usually, people use an invite tracker to find out how many people clicked to join the server through their link.

5. PM — PM stands for Partnership manager. A PM’s task is to Partnership their server with other servers.

6. Portal — A portal is a place where PMs store all the ads of the servers they work for. You can partner with the server(s) the PM owns. Preferably for PMs to mass partner, hire PMs or post their plans on the dedicated work sections etc.

7. Single Partnerships — Most likely to occur when you get a DM of partnerships, but instead, on a portal. Single partnerships are usually counted below 5 ads.

8. Portal Linking — In order to link with a portal, you must own a portal. You will have to get their portal ad and post it in a dedicated channel for them with their name or portal name as their channel. It is not needed to put their ad on codeblock if you are just linking and not working for them. They will do the same by adding your ad to their dedicated channel.

9. Hire PMs for hire — A channel with a name like that usually means that there are PMs wanting to be hired. They will promote their hire plans in that specific channel. If you’re interested in hiring them, just shoot them a dm!

10. Hiring PMs — A channel like that is exactly like the meaning itself. That is a place where people can post their hiring requests to get PMs to work for their server. If you are interested in being hired by them, shoot em a dm!

11. DM2PARTNER—When a PM has this in their status/name, it means you can DM they asking to partner with a particular server.

12. Do Not DM2PARTNER—The sentence itself explains. Just don’t ask the pm to partner if they have that as their status, cause they probably are busy or are not accepting dm partner.

13. DM2MASS OR DM4PORTAL — If they have either of them, they probably want people to head to their portal to mass.

14. DM2HIRE Or PM4HIRE — Exactly like what it says, they are possibly a PM looking to be hired. Either paid or free, give it a shot by dming them!

15. Requirements—A requirement is when you need or have to obtain something. ﹕For example, “you need 10 members to partnership with VA!”

16. Member Requirement—A member requirement is when you need to have a certain number of members in your server or more to partner/affiliate with em.

17. Low Mod—It stands for “Low Moderation”, just like what it states, a server with low mod takes moderation lightly. Some servers do not allow to partner/affiliate with low mod servers as some have an often usage of nsfw/toxicity.

18. NSFW — It stands for “Not Safe For Work”, most servers with nsfw have explicit and inappropriate content such as pornography and offensive content etc.

19. Locked NSFW — A locked nsfw server is usually locked with a certain role. People either have to react to the role or like some nsfw locked servers do, send a ID verification to prove you are 18 or older to obtain that role.

18. P4P—It stands for “Ping For Ping”, practically the same meaning as affiliates.

19.REP4REP — It stands for “Representative For Representative”, where both servers are assigned a representative to stay in each other’s server. If one of them leaves, the other will leave and remove their partnership/affiliate. x

20. Codeblock — Codeblock is for PC/Android users on discord to copy messages with emojis or markdowns perfectly as it is. IOS users do not need codeblock. ﹕make your text codeblock by adding three ` at the beginning and end of text.

21. Markdowns —

Bold -> Italics -> Underline -> Quote -> Strikethrough -> Spoiler -> Codeblock

Expectations:

Channels—Most PMs are something known as Portal Owners. They mass partner and do not have time to find the correct channel. Have one channel for partnerships to go in.

Breaks — Always allow PMs to have breaks. Especially if they are Free Pms, they are taking a lot of time out of their day to post partners and work for many servers at a time.

Quotas — In Vertex Advertising, we have the quota to 3 or more a week. PMs do not like to be rushed and do not like high quotas. I am very lenient with the PMs and let them work at their own pace. I tend to check to see if they are partnering still monthly.

Staff Servers — Do not require PMs to join your staff server. Have a channel in the main server called pm-chat where all the PM conversations, break notices can be held.

Pings — Some PMs dislike many many pings, if the announcement/ping is not important or a paid advertisement, use ping roles.

Counter Bot — All PMs like to have a bot that tells them how many partners they have. I recommend adding Luminous Nova (https://top.gg/bot/711428816127393844). To set the counter to your pm channel, do l?partnerchannel add [channel] and you will be all set with that! If you wish to add more things, just do l?help .

Owners Attitudes — PMs like have respectful owners. Be nice and friendly to your PMs, being rude or disrespectful with most likely cause them to leave and even blacklist you (and spread the blacklist). Do not rush PMs since you probably will hire free PMs.

Extras — If you are going to hire portal owners, I suggest making a channel called pm-portals so they can post their portals there.

Examples — Check out Vertex Advertising to see how we set up our PM channels.

Where do we find most of our PMs?

Below I will mention portal hubs (A network of PMs who advertise their plans, looking for PMs, have a channel for their portal, find people to mass with, get people to mass with them and much more!). My team and I use these servers to find PMs. I am verified portal owner in them.
